Aileen Careaga Cutz is a graduate of Portland State University’s Masters in Social Work program and is passionate about pursuing social and economic justice within the Latino community. She has experience working with diverse populations ranging from incarcerated women to Spanish speaking families and children in various capacities. After working in traditional social work positions at Healthy Families of America and in mental health with Easter Seals Children’s Therapy Center, she decided to shift her focus towards providing tangible tools empowering people to overcome poverty.
Currently, Aileen is the Latino Program Coordinator with MERIT, a microenterprise development organization, and runs Urth Tones LLC, her own microenterprise handcrafting all natural bath and body products. This experience, along with her education and being a daughter of immigrants, provides her with a unique perspective on the needs of Latino entrepreneurs and informs her process in designing, developing, implementing and managing the growth of MERIT’s Spanish language services.
